The U.S. electric carmaker Tesla Inc. broke ground on Jan. 7 in Shanghai on its first overseas factory. Saying China's development speed and efficiency are "impressive," Tesla's CEO Elon Musk pledged efforts to "build the Shanghai plant into one of the most advanced plants in the world," while meeting with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang Wednesday.

Tesla Shanghai factory represents the first-ever solely foreign-invested one in the field of new energy automobile, which benefiting from a new policy allowing foreign carmakers to set up wholly-owned subsidiaries in China.

It took only half a year for Tesla to go from signing an agreement with the Shanghai municipal government to the project's official launching and groundbreaking.

As the China’s first wholly foreign-owned new-energy vehicle project with a total budget investment of more than 7 billion US$, Tesla's Shanghai factory is expected to make 250,000 electronic cars annually in the first phase of production. It aims to finish initial construction this summer, start Model 3 production end of 2019 & reach high volume production in 2020.

Tesla Shanghai factory will produce affordable versions of 3/Y for China. All Model S/X & higher cost versions of Model 3/Y will still be built in US for WW market, incl China.

According to global market consultancy Roland Berger, 390,000 electric vehicles were sold in China in the first half of 2018, representing 3 percent of total car sales in the country. That makes China the biggest electric vehicle market in the world, outselling second-placed United States more than three-to-one, in the same period, which is due to China’s implementing promotional policies for new energy vehicles since several years ago.  Following Tesla’s factory investment in China, and following the new round of China’s opening-up policy, it is believed that there will be more and more international vehicle brands to expand their investment in China for producing New Energy Vehicle.

Since the booming market of new energy vehicle has been promoting all related vehicle parts making industries, it is important for the vehicle parts makers to choose the right CNC machines to make these vehicle parts.

Pratic CNC machining centers are the best choice for processing these vehicle parts including luggage rack, wheel hub, bumper, running board, sunroof guide rail, decoration strip and so on, also they are well applied for deep processing of van carriage, bus carriage, trailer and so on.

What is more, by continuous researching and testing, Pratic developed the turnkey solution for making battery tray of new energy vehicle.

Pratic CNC is looking forward to working more and more vehicle parts makers to contribute more to the development of new energy vehicle both in China and worldwide.
